Have you tried other Martial Arts in the past, but weren’t made to feel welcome? Perhaps you just didn’t enjoy that particular style? Maybe life got in the way and skipping one or two sessions turned into months or years?

Maybe you’ve heard that Jiu-Jitsu is a more practical, strategic and enjoyable form of Martial Art that will also help you to get fit, without doing the dreaded jogging or going to the gym.

Here at Gracie Barra Yeovil we are offering 10 people ‘Two Weeks FREE Jiu-Jitsu Training‘, still not sure? Here’s five reasons why you will love training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with us at Gracie Barra Yeovil.

Here at Gracie Barra Yeovil we have a team full of welcoming, friendly and encouraging members. We always make sure that newcomers are partnered up with more experienced students. This means you’ll always have someone guiding you through the techniques – you won’t be thrown in at the deep end!

This allows for an easy integration into our classes and the ability to learn as much as possible over your Two Week FREE trial .

We all support and encourage each other at Gracie Barra Yeovil during training and competitions. In addition, we now have regular social events too. So if you’ve moved to the area or are looking to make new friends in a healthy, fun environment – get in touch!

Training Jiu-Jitsu allows you to learn self-defence while training a sport.

Many of our members say that they joined Gracie Barra Yeovil so that they can get fit and healthy. Instead of boring themselves on a treadmill in a gym they were seeking a challenge, a feeling of progress and accomplishment and the added bonus of learning some self-defence skills. In effect they’re killing two (three? four?) birds with one stone.

The style of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu allows us to train ‘full contact’ and go to work the next day without black eyes, broken noses and other striking related injuries. Many of the moves and techniques can be adapted too; so if you suffering with a long term, niggling injury, we’ll be able to help you work around it.

After your very first session you will realize the benefits of drinking more water and eating correctly in order to fuel yourself to get the most out of every session. Training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with a hangover is no fun! Many of our students soon realise this and making healthy choices to fuel our training soon becomes a habit.

These healthy choices will develop into healthy habits and will ultimately become a healthy lifestyle; The Jiu-Jitsu Lifestyle!

Stepping onto the mats the first time can be a daunting experience for anyone. Many of the techniques we practice take time to master and being beaten in sparring (“rolling”) by someone smaller and weaker than yourself can be a humbling experience. As with anything in life, some people take to it very quickly, but nobody starts off great at Jiu-Jitsu!

For those that enjoy the challenge, the improvements that they make over time often translate into increased confidence in their personal life, not to mention the confidence boost that comes with knowing that – if you wanted to – you could choke / joint-lock everybody in the room!

If you haven’t guessed (or read any of the above) then you should know that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will get you fitter and stronger. Whilst we mainly talk about self-defence in a physical altercation, defending ourselves from heart disease, obesity, diabetes, addiction or depression is probably the bigger goal we should worry about. These conditions affect many, many more people than physical violence. Choosing a sport like Jiu Jitsu could be the biggest step you ever take to avoiding them.
