Welcome to the Gracie Barra October Newsletter.
This month we’ve got a super special offer for you lucky students and news about more competition wins. Let’s take a look at what’s happening…
The Slim Assassin Dominates the Masters!
There was another strong performance in September as the slim assasin, Looney Sean Counihan won GOLD at British National Masters, competing at 88kg!
Sean won three consecutive matches (one on points and two by submission) and I’m sure the whole team will join me in congratulating him.
For any “senior” members of the team 😉 that want to compete the National Masters is an annual event to all BJJ students age 30 and over. Keep an eye on there website as it would be great to get a big team together for this next year!
Devon BJJ Open 2018
Once again, congratulations to everyone who has signed themselves up to the Competition in Plymouth!
Registration is still open, so if you haven’t yet entered and would like to do so, there is still time.
It looks like we’ll be taking a Gracie Barra Yeovil army down to this competition to represent the Red Shield and Gracie Barra Yeovil as a team.
Myself and the other coaches have set the goal bringing home a Team trophy.
To do this, we need to be within the top three teams, with the highest overall scores. The more medals we win, the more points we get.
Who is going to step up to the mark, step on the mat and help us bring home a trophy?!
The event takes place on the 10th November 2018. Full details here.
Coaching Team! 🤙🏼🔥
A few weeks ago, the GBY Coaching Team came together to discuss how we can provide more value to our students!
After a brilliant brainstorming session, we’ve come away with some great ideas to implement over the coming months.
I’d like to thank the GBY Coaching Team for all their hard work and dedication!
These individuals really understand the benefits of self development through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and have embraced the Jiu-Jitsu lifestyle.
They are also passionate about helping as many people as possible achieve the same 🙌🏼🔥
Brand New Classes!
Last, but definitely not least, we’re really excited to announce some new classes coming to Gracie Barra Yeovil.
Starting this month we’ll be introducing our first Ladies Only class. Over the past year the number of woman and girls training at Gracie Barra Yeovil has grown rapidly. We think this is fantastic and would love this to continue!
We have found that some ladies initially feel uncomfortable being in close contact with the guys – at least initially. That’s why we’re launching this new class which promises to be an excellent addition to the timetable.
This month also sees the start of our Competition Classes. A great opportunity to train using the specific rule set used in IBJJF competitions. This is a superb opportunity for anyone that hasn’t competed to get a good idea of what is involved in a friendly, helpful environment. Or for those that already compete to help develop a ‘point scoring’ mentality.
We can’t wait to see you on the mats for these classes during October!
That’s everything for now.
